Testimonials of Positive Change

"I gained a way to be in peace with myself and through that to be in peace with others."

"The peaceful coexistence between Arabs and Jews requires work with women and children who are able to work with themselves."

"I feel happy when I see and sense that human beings that act for worldly peace exist. I feel that I have the power to join these people, make a change and promote peace, love, giving, light and forgiveness."

Healing Separation

Program Overview:

The Women of Vision in the
Holy Land, 2009, is planning the first in a series entitled: The World Vision Art Project, based on the principal of "Healing Separation".  Women will gather together across cultural, geographical and religious borders to co-create artistic bridges together.

The intended result is to display visual art, theatrical art and music at a
5-day residential conference called Heart: Remember, Heal, Transform: Healing Separation through Art, Mediation, Ceremony and Circles, from October 19-23, 2009, occurring in Nahariya, in the north of Israel/Palestine. This conference will feature The World Vision Art Project along with deeper training in Ceremonial Art. Click here to Donate Now!

We have successfully raised $15,000 in 2009 to forward The World Vision Art Project. Click here to learn more and to follow our progression with The World Vision Art Project!

Objective:

Art provides the opportunity for the "unheard" voices of women to express themselves and their vision. Art is a reflection of the culture, and is a force of the healing aspect of femininity.  It provides a medium for and essential transformational process which all people, of all ages, can relate to and participate in.

The Art Project Began in 2008:

The enclosed photographs show a gathering of Arab and Jewish women who gathered in a Bedouin Village in September 2008 to initiate The World Vision Art Project where women gathered to express their feelings of wholeness and to experience a multi-cultural community. Each woman worked on her own project for nearly an hour.  These pieces were presented, and spoken about in the circle. The women then gathered into small groups of four, with Arab and Jewish women mixed together in each group.

They were then asked to cut their ‘wholeness art’ in half…and to speak about how it felt to   ‘create separation’ intentionally, with the apparent result of destroying their work.  The next instruction was to create new art from all the cut pieces. Once the groups of four accomplished that, they then contributed to a large piece of paper, attaching the new art, and then writing words and prayers on the large sheet.

The day ended with a body sculpture expressing their prayers for peace, and the realization that separation was a choice.  They each took a moment to envision a situation where they might next experience separation, and to imagine that they did in fact then choose wholeness and peace.  Songs were sung, hopes and dreams were shared, and the women all experienced the co-creation of a multi-cultural village. The experience was healing and tender for many...

The Vision:

The vision is to encourage other forms of artwork to be co-created in small groups of Israeli Jews, Muslim and Christian Arabs, earth-based traditions and secular women in Israel/Palestine. Artwork can be music, photographs, video clips, theater, visual arts – the defining element is that it involves the theme of  “Healing Separation”, and must be executed by women who are culturally or religiously diverse. They will also be asked to write a brief statement of the experience that they had in the process of creating art together.  Women with creative ideas will apply to the Middle East organizers, who will choose four or five projects which meet the criteria for the grant which would support their project to completion by October 2009.

The Goal:

The goal will be to display the art in various locations.  The first display will be from October 19-23, 2009, at Heart:Remember, Heal, Transform, a 5-day residential conference produced by The Women of Vision. We are requesting your support to bring this vision into manifestation.

Donations are tax deductible through All Season’s Chalice, Please note on your donation that the project you support is The Women of Vision. We thank you for your contribution and good will!

Phase One Fundraising Goal = $15,000 Raised

Raised and distributed to three projects, with small stipends to facilitators in the Holy Land

Phase Two Fundraising Goal = $20,000 by October 2009

To continue to support the project by staging and promoting it at Heart: Remember, Heal, Transform Conference, from October 19-23, 2009 in Nahariya, Israel/Palestine; to continue to gather more artistic contributions, and consider staging an art show in several large cities, starting in the Middle East, and expanding to Europe and the U.S., as well as on several social networking websites which will be designed to be accessible to many.  This way, the message of “Healing Separation” can be experienced by many, as it is a theme that affects people in every part of the world.

Total Project Budget: $ 35,000

We are more than half way to our project funding goal
and deeply appreciate your contributions to further The World Vision Art Project.
